5 Easy Hairstyles for the Holidays

As summer starts to creep in, most of us are feeling the buzz of the countdown to our next summer holiday. Whether you’ll be sunning it up in the Maldives or are opting for a staycation this season, the last thing you want is for your hair to get in the way of your adventures (or sunbathing hours), so here are five easy hairstyles that will tame those strayaways with ease on your next holiday. Beachy waves are all the rage, so leave those straighteners at home girls and embrace the ‘au natural’ look!

Beach Braid

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, braids are so on-trend right now and we LOVE it. Whether you want to pop into our braid bar and have us fix you up with a mermaid-worthy set of locks or want to try a bit of DIY, a beach braid is the perfect holiday look. The choices here are endless, you can opt for a summery loose side braid, a double Dutch or feminine French. These hairstyles may take a little practice if you aren’t a braid queen already, but once you’ve mastered the art, you’ll be ready to go in under 60 seconds.

The Flip

The flip allows you to embrace the natural wave of your hair, whilst adding in a little bit of detail and keeping it off your face. This is so simple that anyone could do it. First off, separate a small section at the top of your head for a classic ‘half up half down’ look, and loosely fasten with a hairband. Then take the baby pony you’ve made and separate your hair at the parting behind the hairband, pull the pony through the gap and feed through to the bottom. This look adds a touch of class and can be replicated with a full pony too.

Messy Bun

The messy bun is a classic, everyday look. On holiday, the texture of your hair makes a messy bun even easier and keeps your hair out of the way for the entire day. You all know how to do a messy bun, but for a fail-proof method, we recommend adding some texture to your hair with a spray or mouse. Then pull your hair into a high, loose pony, twist your hair either clockwise or anti-clockwise around the base of the pony and secure again with a hairband. You can then tease the bun with your fingers to loosen and create the perfect look. Alternatively, you can ditch the second hairband and move straight onto the bobby pins if you wish!

Braid Wrapped Pony

A simple pony is another classic, whether you opt for a high or low ponytail, it is always a winner. For the evenings or whenever you want to make a little more of an effort, the braided pony is a perfect choice. Simply put your hair into a ponytail, select a section of around 2cm from the underneath side of the pony, plait this all the way to the bottom and secure with a pollyband. Wrap the braid around the pony as many times as you can, ensuring that the end sits underneath your ponytail, then secure with a bobby pin. A quick mist of hairspray should set everything in place, and you’ll be ready for anything!

Upside Down Bun Braid

Combining two of our favourite hairstyles, the braid and the bun, this look is simply beautiful, and adds a little extra strength to your hair. To begin, brush through your hair so that it is easier to braid, then flip your hair upside down and begin braiding from the nape of your neck towards the crown. Stop braiding when you reach your ears. Then pull your hair into a high pony or bun and secure with a hairband. Gently tease the braid out to give a little added texture and voila! This can easily be done as a duo of braided buns too if you’re feeling brave!
